Black Belt Birding Festival

Alabama Audubon’s Black Belt Birding Festival is back for its 5th year during the first weekend of August!

Walker Evans, Gourd-nests for the Martins, 1936, Hale County, Alabama

This year, like the past, we’re having live music and an artist market on Saturday, August 2. But we’re adding in more magic this year, with a juried exhibition.

If you’re interested in applying for Nests, the juried exhibition, see all details by clicking here. Applications are due by June 30.

VENDORS: If you’re interested in vending at our Artist Market on August 2, please e-mail the following to magic@sumaccottage.com:
- name and where you’re based
- 3-5 images of your work
- description of your work

We are actively seeking 1-2 food vendors to pop up during the day to add more lunch options for all of the visitors to Greensboro that day. The same goes for musicians to perform during the event. If you think this would be a good fit for you, please reach out to magic@sumaccottage.com.

For more information on the 5th Annual Black Belt Birding Festival, visit Alabama Audubon’s website here. We encourage you to look through the offerings and take advantage of this unique opportunity to experience unique ecotourism in a region of profoundly important ecology and civil rights history. Events for the festival can be added a la carte, but no ticket is required to attend the festivities at Sumac Cottage. We’ll keep releasing details for all of the magic we’ll be making at the cottage that weekend, so go ahead and mark your calendars and stay tuned!
